Humphrey Products, continuing their focus on small, direct acting 3 & 4-way solenoid valves is introducing their 315/415 Series of valves. 315/415 valves fall between Humphrey’s very popular 310/410 and 320/420 Series. Physical size is just slightly larger than the 310 Series, and flow is rated at .42 Cv, 3 times the flow of the smaller valve. A design point that cannot be overlooked is that this valve is a direct operating valve! The solenoid directly lifts and shifts the valve; therefore the valve can operate at low pressures without separate pressure supplies, or can control vacuum. Or can have both vacuum and pressure in its ports.
315/415 valves have a patented poppet-sealing concept that reduces the power needed to shift the valve. Standard power requirement is 5 watts for a 1/8 NPSF valve flowing .42 Cv. All valves are rated NEMA 4, which allows them to be used in high moisture conditions. Like most Humphrey designed valves, no lubrication is needed to help the life of the valve. Humphrey has once again recognized the needs of our customers and designed a valve series with greater flow per valve size, than any other valve in the market. More bang for the real estate it takes.

This valve should be considered where your present valve is marginal in flow and capacity and you cannot expand the area designed for your valve components. TECO Pneumatic will soon have samples of this new valve and it will be showing up in various trade publications. Of course it will be on display at the Semicon West/02 Show in July. Humphrey 315/415 Valves on Manifolds Humphrey completes the 315/415 valve series with a full line of patent pending designed manifolds to accept either the 3-way or 4-way valves. Up to 12-valve station manifolds that can be DIN rail mounted.Both 315 and 415 valves can be mounted on the same manifold. Pick and choose valve types depending on your needs. The very same valve for in-line use is used for the manifold mounting. 3-way valves can be mounted to function as a normally closed, normally open or diverter and/or selector valves, again as needed in your application. The 3-way manifold has two passages, one supply and one exhaust. 4-way manifolds, on which you can still mount 3-way valves, have three galleries. All have an option of having an isolator plug inserted at any location in the gallery to be able to have more than one supply pressure to two different sets of valves. Or vacuum to some and pressure to others. If more pressure supplies are wanted, a separate supply/exhaust plate can be inserted at any location on the manifold.
1/4" NPSF inlets ports on the manifold ends provide enough flow to supply all 12 valves with sufficient air. The end ports and/or the cylinders ports from the manifold can be NPSF threads or can be push-to-connect tube fittings.
There is an optional sandwich speed control for individual valves if you have a need to closely control cylinder exhaust speeds. Combining the new Humphrey 315/415 valves on this all encompassing manifold system makes for a very easy assembly and one easy for field retrofit. All valves are the very same as shown on the first page. No different! Very simply constructed, direct acting 3 and 4-way solenoid valves that will give you long life and trouble free service. Valves and manifold all rated NEMA 4, resistant to moisture atmospheres. All valves have pending CE, UL and CSA rating approval. They will fit in quite easy with all specifications, no matter where you plan to ship the machine in the world. Please do call your TECO sales person to have them bring in a valve and manifold for you to see. If you have a present application where these valves will fit, ask for a sample valve manifold. You will be pleased when you use the Humphrey 315/415 valve system on your machine. Miniature Filter - Regulators from Koganei Humphrey-Koganei brought out very small, miniature and compact air filters and regulators. They really are small! The filter is only 23 mm X 30 mm X 50 mm tall in size. Adding push-to-connect fittings adds 18 mm to 33 mm to the width.The regulator is a bit taller as it has the control knob adding 10 mm to the height. But that is still quite short and compact. The body material is plastic; therefore with the very compact size you get a filter or regulator that weighs about 1.5 ounces. Important if total weight is a concern
There are a selection of filters, including vacuum filters and one with the combined pressure and vacuum filter in one body. These are perfect for vacuum pick and pressure release applications, filtering both lines in one component. One more choice is a filter-regulator combination in one body, still in the 1.5-ounce range in total weight. All filter/regulators are rated for 0 to 145 PSI, well within the range of most applications. Regulators can be either relieving or non-relieving types and come in two standard pressure ranges. With push-to-connect fittings as standard, choose from 4 & 6 mm or 1/8 or1/4-inch tube sizes.Assembly is quite easy, weight is minimal and of course these great filter-regulators from Humphrey – Koganei are an easy solution to filtration needs. If multiple pressure regulations are needed, Koganei offers a 5-regulator manifold in the same small size and weight. If less than 5 regulators are needed, block-off plates isolate the unused stations. A miniature pressure gauge should be mentioned. 18 mm across the face, this small gauge fits well with the miniature regulators, giving a complete compact filtering and regulating system for many designs. Do call and request a catalog that shows these wonderful miniature components. Conveyor Stopper Cylinder from Fabco-Air In all conveying applications at some time, lines of packages or just one package must be stopped. Various mechanical stops have been made, powered by air cylinders or motors but none made simple just for the stopping. Fabco-Air announced a new STOPPER CYLINDER for this specific application. The cylinder has a beefed up rod bearing to take the side impact loads and still have a long life. Its load bearing capacity is 36,000 PSI The .787 inch diameter rod and the strong rod-bearing can take many cycles of operation. The STOPPER CYLINDER is a basic 32-mm bore cylinder with strokes from 10 to 50 mm standard. A front-face mounting flange, with a hub to mate with a close fitting pilot hole makes for a solid assembly ready to stop loads up to 64 pounds on your conveyors. A FAIL-SAFE, spring extend option is also available along with magnetic sensors to tell position of cylinder stroke. It is nice to have a solution to an application in one package, with that package being a rugged cylinder from Fabco-Air. Do call for additional information.
We keep repeating the mantra "we are all in this world for the long run" and eventually we do realize that is correct. Poor business conditions certainly have been with us before. All of us that have worked with the semiconductor business for any length of time has seen more than one correction. My first was in 1969! It is hard to see our 401K funds decrease, home prices go down, business becoming stagnant, but keep the faith. It too shall pass!
